Job Description

The Network Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s computer network, ensuring high levels of availability and security. They will be responsible for monitoring network performance, troubleshooting and resolving network issues, implementing security protocols, and performing routine maintenance and upgrades. The Network Specialist will work closely with the IT team, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the network infrastructure meets the organization’s needs.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration, with experience managing complex network infrastructures.
Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
Experience with network security protocols and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
Knowledge of network management tools, such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Nagios.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely manner.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other IT team members and stakeholders.
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or Network+ are preferred.

Must Have

Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot and resolve network issues, and ensure high levels of availability and reliability.
Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
Ensure compliance with network security policies and procedures, and keep up-to-date with emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with IT team members, vendors, and other stakeholders to identify and implement network upgrades and improvements.
Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to network infrastructure, including firmware updates, software patches, and hardware replacements.
Document network configurations, changes, and procedures, and maintain network documentation and diagrams.
Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, and respond to network-related help desk requests in a timely manner.
